A tote at a small size

A small tote keeps what makes a tote good — you can see into it, you can get into it one-handed — at a size that does not swallow its contents. It is the most useful shape here when you carry a bit more than the essentials but do not need a work bag.

What a small tote will not do

It will not carry a laptop. Nothing in this collection is sized for one, and we list that explicitly rather than letting the dimensions imply otherwise. Larger work and travel totes are planned, but they are not this collection.

Material

Cowhide gives a tote structure, so it stands rather than folds. Nylon is dramatically lighter, which you notice by the end of a day. Lambskin is used sparingly here — a soft tote collapses.

Questions

Will a laptop fit?

No. These are sized below laptop capacity. Every product page lists what does not fit, and a laptop is listed where relevant.

Does a small tote close?

It depends on the style. Closure is listed on every product page — zip, magnetic, or open top. Open-top totes are easier to use and less secure.

Can I carry it on the shoulder?

Handle drop determines this. It is listed in inches. A drop under about 8 inches is hand-carry only for most people.

How is a small tote different from a shoulder bag?

A tote has two handles and an opening you can see into. A shoulder bag has a single strap and usually a flap or zip. Totes are easier to access; shoulder bags are more secure.
