We name the leather

Genuine leather is a term that tells you almost nothing. Every bag here states which leather it is made from — cowhide or lambskin — and where the supply chain can evidence it, the grade and finish as well: top-grain, full-grain, pebbled, smooth. Where we cannot evidence a grade, we do not state one.

Cowhide

The everyday leather and the majority of what we make. It holds structure, resists daily abrasion, and softens gradually instead of collapsing. It suits crossbody bags, small totes, structured shoulder bags and top handles.

Lambskin

Softer, lighter and more tactile, with a finer grain. It suits smaller and softer shapes — mini bags, pouches, soft shoulder bags, evening pieces. It marks more easily than cowhide, which is the trade for how it feels.

Care

Care instructions differ by leather and are listed on each product page. As a general rule: keep leather out of prolonged direct sun, let it dry naturally if it gets wet, and condition it occasionally rather than frequently.

Questions

What is the difference between cowhide and lambskin?

Cowhide is thicker, tougher and holds its shape. Lambskin is thinner, softer and lighter, with a finer grain. Cowhide wears better; lambskin feels better.

Why do some products not state a leather grade?

Because we can only state a grade when the supply chain can evidence it. Where it cannot, we name the leather but leave the grade off rather than guessing.

Is leather heavier than nylon?

Yes, noticeably, at the same size. Every product page lists weight so you can compare directly.

How should I store a leather bag?

Stuffed lightly to hold its shape, in a dust bag, out of direct sunlight. Do not hang a leather bag by its strap for long periods — it stretches the strap.
